14th April 2006
Another update made up of small changes here and there.
Added one Recent Repair - an Ultra U930 by Tim Pullin.
Updated the AM-03 transmitter review to report that this product is now discontinued.
Added a couple of repairers to the Repairers page.
6th November 2005
This update is the result of numerous small changes over the last few months, and I can't remember much of what's been added!
Added seven Recent Repairs - Bush VHF94, Grundig 1055, Hacker Autocrat Mk 2 and Roberts R500 by Tim Pullin, HMV 463 by Peter Lawn, Philco A1 by Jeremy Stevens and Ultra FM82 by Christopher Capaner.
Dynatron page added to the Manufacturers and Sets section.
Added a couple of repairers to the Repairers page.
Hopefully with a change of job in September I should have more free time to get on with some repairs and updating this site more often. We'll see..... I have updated the About Paul page to include the new job.
Reconfigured the whole site to use style sheets and Dreamweaver templates. Changed the extensions of all files from .shtml to .html so we can expect problems with links from search engines from a while.
I have also created a new Vintage Radio Information website containing a number of interesting scanned documents, an archive of Heathkit schematics and more to come as I get around to adding things.
30th May 2005
Guestbook added.
Sorry for the lack of new content recently, but I have been very busy with work and other activities, so haven't had time to repair any radios or work on this site.
2th March 2005
Search facility added.
9th February 2005
Moved details of CD-ROMs and Service Data by Email to a new website at www.service-data.com, and added new Vintage Radio Service Data 4 CD-ROM.
Added details of "classicheathkit" to Heathkit page.
Updated Repairers page.
4th December 2004
Added an updater for the Service Data CD-ROM Menu Program (to version 1.22) to fix a minor issue and improve the layout on Windows XP.
6th November 2004
Added a separate page for adding or removing yourself from my Website Update Email List.
31st October 2004
Added reviews of the SSTRAN AMT3000 and Vectronics VEC-1290K AM transmitter kits. To fit them in nicely I rearranged the existing transmitter reviews and added an introductory page.
Added seven Recent Repairs - my Bush DAC90A, an HMV 445 by Nigel Hughes, and a Bush AC11, Bush AC34, Bush BAC31, Roberts R200 and Grundig TK5 by Tim Pullin.
I have recently obtained quite a lot of pocket and novelty trannies, so I've rearranged those sections of the site to accommodate them all.
Added a Hacker page containing details and photos of a number of Hacker models, kindly sent to me by Brian Millson.
Added several sets to the Grundig, Roberts and Bush pages, details and photos also supplied by Brian.
I have now removed Buy-Jeans as a payment method for Service Data by Email - this is only available through PayPal now. CD-ROMs can still be ordered through Buy-Jeans.
As usual there have been a few updates and corrections to the Suppliers, Repairers and Links sections.
30th May 2004
Added the previous online payment facility (via Buy-Jeans) back into the online shop, as an alternative for those who are unable to use PayPal. This is for UK customers only. Payment processing may take up to a week.
PayPal is still the prefered payment facility due to the speed and convenience.
23rd May 2004
After a highly successful trial, I am now using PayPal for all online payments for CD-ROMs and Service Data by Email. The advantage is speed and convenience. Service Data by Email will now normally be received within 24 hours of ordering.
If you don't want to use PayPal, you can order by post and pay by cheque, credit card, postal order etc. Following a few requests, this service is now extended to Service Data by Email - but obviously it will take longer than 24 hours!
CD-ROM prices now INCLUDE postage and packing to anywhere in the world. I have decided to make the offer of all four CD-ROMs for £50 permanent, and added an additional offer of all three Service Data CD-ROMs for £40.
27th April 2004
Just a minor update this time:
I have added three Recent Repairs - my Philips B7X14A/65 Reverbeo repair, and a Bush VTR103 and my Microsonic miniature trannie repaired by Pete Roberts.
And a few minor corrections etc.
25th April 2004
Added PayPal payment facilities for CD-ROMs and Service Data by Email on a trial basis. Added offer of four CD-ROMs for £50 for PayPay customers.
4th January 2004
I told my partner that I wanted a few pocket and novelty trannie radios for Christmas. He spent a lot of time on eBay and bought rather more sets than I expected! I also bought some at the Autumn 2003 NVCF and the December 2003 Wootton Bassett BVWS swapmeet, and a few on eBay myself. Consequently there are lots of additions to the Manufacturers and Sets section this time.
I have added two new pages to accommodate all the Novelty Transistor Sets and Pocket Transistor Sets. Nearly everything on those two pages is new.
Other new additions include Bush TR104, TR106 and VHF81, Decca TPW70, Defiant MSH551 console, Ferguson 3110, GEC BC5441, Grundig Boy 30, Heathkit UXR-1, Invicta 8004, Murphy U144 and MA5003 headphone radio, Perdio Popsy 1, Popsy 2 and PR7, Philips 172, B3G97U, BD283U "Philetta" and RL290, Pye Q1, SX1020, SX1050 and SX1120, Roberts R500 and TVS1 TV sound receiver, and a clear Dapy radio with internal neon tube.
I have also added pages for Decca, Defiant, Grundig and Invicta, since there are now more than one set from each of these brands on the site.
The Bush, Philips and Pye pages were becoming rather long, so I have separated each of them out into separate Valve and Transistor pages. This means there are new pages for Bush Trannies, Philips Trannies and Pye Trannies.
There are several additions to the Recent Repairs section too. I restored a Defiant MSH551 console and a Wartime Civilian Set, Nigel has restored a Ferguson 3308 "Minigram" and a Grundig 3068, Tim has restored a Bush DAC10 and TR82C (later AF117 version), a Ferguson 384U, a Vidor CN396A, and has finally got the VHF working on his Murphy A242, while Simon has finished repairing the Hacker Soverign he started a few months ago.
Following my review of the Gizmo and AM03 Modulators last time, a few people have asked about the modifications I carried out to my Gizmo to get rid of the background "mush". I have now added a page detailing these modifications.
Because I am now also maintaining the BVWS website, which contains a full list of vintage radio events, I have added a link to there instead of maintaining an Events page on this site. It saves doing the same work twice!
Since I use visitors private information for the forum and order processing, I have added a Privacy Policy to explain what is collected and how it is used.
And finally, I have put a few of the nice comments about the website that people have sent me by email onto a new Comments page.... :)
