Repairers and Restorers

Many visitors to this website are looking for someone local to repair and restore a vintage radio or other item of vintage electronics. To help, I have compiled the following list of repairers/restorers around the UK. Simply find the repairers closest to you, and contact them to discuss your requirements. Please tell them that you got their details from this website. If you offer a repair/restoration service yourself (either as a business or as an enthusiast in your spare time) and wish to be added to this list, please contact me.

Please note that I have not dealt personally with all the repairers listed on this page, and cannot accept responsibility for the outcome of any dealings. Some of these repairers are private individuals doing the work in their spare time, while others are full-time businesses.

Unless otherwise noted, most of these repairs would expect you to deliver and collect the set, or to send it via a parcel delivery firm. Some may be prepared to collect and deliver in the local area, by agreement.

If you are contacting one of these repairers by phone or fax, please remember that here in the UK the time zone is GMT (winter) or GMT+1 (summer). If you are outside the UK, please check the time difference so that you do not inadvertantly call during the night. From outside the UK you need to dial your international access code, then 44 (for the UK), then the area code and number shown but omitting the initial zero. For example, to dial 01234 567890 from outside the UK, dial your international access code then 44 1234 567890. Telephone numbers beginning 07 are mobile phones.

To reduce the chances of these people receiving spam or viruses by email, I have shown their email addresses in a form that is not immediately machine-readable. To get the email address of a repairer, replace the word "(at)" with the "@" character and remove the spaces either side.

The entries on this page are in alphabetical order of surname or company name. Descriptions are based on text provided by the repairer/restorer.

Since the web site was started my working partner has retired. 30% of my work is on vintage sets - radio and 405 line TV. I have an Aurora converter, Band 1 crystal controlled modulator and a PLL band 3 modulator. I recently obtained a massive quantity of spares and complete radios from Joe Urban in Fife so I am very well equipped.

All general vintage radio / TV / Audio repair to professional and vintage amplifiers/ restoration work undertaken. If it has valves, it will be fixed. Price comes second to providing a good service to someone who will appreciate a job well done. Not a shop / business, just enthusiastic. Even the odd transistor set gets through sometimes! Callers are welcome. You don't have to buy something. If you want to discuss a problematic fault or bounce ideas around, by all means I'd like to hear from you.
