Nice Comments!

Just for the sake of it, here are a few of the comments I have received about this website recently. They are all nice comments of course.... :)

I have now added a Guestbook for any comments you may wish to make.

I have seen masses of info. for old radio repair section. It is the BEST website that has got a very comprehensive info in one place. Keep up this good work, and all the best. It is already in my favorite web page list!

Just a note to thank you sincerely for the valve data CD and equally importantly for the excellent info on your website. I bought an Ekco AD37 with a badly cracked case and disintegrated dropper from the VRCF at the NEC and had repaired the case , backing it up with GRP inside, I was at a bit of a loss on how to deal with the dropper until I was directed towards your site. Having replaced the dropper with a capacitive dropper using your CD and spreadsheet for the calculations it works perfectly!! This has given me the confidence to tackle a couple of other sets which I previously thought were beyond my capacity!

I am really pleased to have rescued a set which was in very sad condition into something worthy of display and, equally importantly, good to listen to.

My previous repairs to sets have been confined to mainly cosmetic repair and obvious simple replacements.

Thanks again for the excellent help and info!!

Regards Steve C

Though I do not get to work with my radios as much as I would like and am not nearly as proficient as you and your friends are, I just want to tell you that the part of your website I enjoy the most is reading your very descriptive, very informative restore and repair narratives. The detail you provide makes it feel like the radio is sitting right there in front of me on the workbench. Please keep up the excellent work. Take care.

Today I had a chance to have a proper look at your web site and while I was not able to check everything out, I just wanted to congratulate you on the nice work you have done.

Web site is first class. Wish I had the info 20 years ago!

All the best
John

I'm really glad to see that your website offers a massive service data library and most of all, the price per diagram and the availability online. I have been looking for a site just like yours for some time.

Thanks ever so much.

And can I say, congratulations on a fantastic website! Finding so much information on vintage techonology on the 'net has rekindled my interest in radio, and the wealth of information on your site has given me the confidence to tackle just about all aspects of restoring sets. Keep up the good work!

I just wanted to thank you for getting me interested in old radios as a result of reading your excellent article in Everyday Electronics and this excellent web site. It is amazing how quickly ones collection grows. I started by managing to repair an old radio found in a deceased aunt's loft and things have spiralled a little out of control since then.

Thank you very much

Just a few remarks I would like to make about your website...

Top job! It's good to have someone offering some sound advice on vintage radio with practical 'pointers' on how to make the most of this rewarding interest, and a site that really does inspire.

I must say you really are a credit to this field - you have given me a firm foundation of knowledge, as many of the sites I have viewed so far seem to be all style and not much content!

I'm still fairly new to the collecting of vintage sets - been going for two years now and have five sets, although my interest has been going since the eairly 90's- ever since I discovered while visiting my nan one summer, an old Ferguson radiogram which had valves- I'd never seen such things before and so the obsession started! Valve sets do sound so much more warm and mellow then anything else that exsists, although I recently got hold of a B&O Beomaster 1001 which does come a close second!

Anyway, keep up the good and much appreciated work!

Doug B

Just a short note to say that I think your web site is just great. I wish I had found it ages ago. Keep up the good work.

Just had a look at your website, it is one of the best sites for vintage radio restoration, I read your article in last years EPE magazine which inspired me to start vintage radio collecting and restoration this year, keep up the excellent work.

Just want to thank you. Since I have found your site it has been a great help to me. The Discussion Forum is a pool of wealth and helpful people.

I would like to thank you for such an interesting and professional website, one of the best that I have seen! I spend far too much time looking at it when I really should be working!

I thought I would send you an email praising your website...

I have a 1961 Hacker Mayflower 2, which I have had distorted audio troubles with for about 6 months...After searching around your site, I found out what the problem was and was able to sort it in minutes.

It was a 2.2k grid resistor off one of the ECL86s that had gone high in value to 3.7k...I also replaced all the leaky 50uf electrolytics...

Set works well again !!

I want to say how much I appreciated your information on Transistor Radio Output Stages Parts 1 & 2. They answer some questions I have as I've reverse engineered a Japanese Life Tone radio from the 1960's with Hitachi parts. The audio output transistors are failing the base emitter biasing which the crystals you tell about forming in older sets may be the culprit.

I really appreciate your quick response, and for making these service charts available online at a reasonable price.

Thank you, I just received it. I really like the idea of receiving schematics etc. as e-mail attachments. Instant gratification and the ability to print and/or view a document on the pc rate highly with me.

I've just used your automated service data download service - brilliant!

If only fixing the set was this simple...

Cheers
Chris
